Energy Must be Fully Integrated Into Post-2015 Development Agenda, say Vienna Energy Forum Participants »
A global transition towards sustainable energy systems is imperative, and the window of opportunity is now, said participants at the Vienna Energy Forum that opened in the Austrian Capital on the 28th of May. They also emphasized that Sustainable Energy for All, and initiative launched by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, should be at the heart of the post-2015 development agenda, and should be turned into a global goal on energy. The European Commission has announced the results of the first call for proposals of an innovative programme for providing finance to bring electricity to the world’s poorest citizens. The 32nd edition of the International Energy Workshop (IEW) will be hosted by the International Energy Agency. The IEW provides a venue for analysts to compare quantitative energy projections, to understand the reasons for diverging views of future energy developments, and to observe new trends in global energy production and consumption. As one of the leading conferences for the energy modelling research community, the conference will seek to address the growing complexity of energy modelling in an ever-more constrained energy world. The IEW will be held from 19 to 21 June at the Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel, Paris, France. Learn more.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in New Delhi, India, recently launched the Indian Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Policy Database. IREEED is an online repository of all central and state government policies, incentives, and programmes related to renewable energy and energy efficiency. The website also includes a clean energy energy glossary and helpful links to outside organizations and government agencies. The database is "beta" and policy data from new states is being added continuously. Learn more.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) will release the next installments of its Energy Policies of IEA Countries series for its member-countries Finland and Germany on 23 and 24 May 2013, respectively. These in-depth reviews, released on an on-going basis, catalog and provide analysis of IEA-member countries' energy sectors. The reviews focus on general energy policies, sector specific policies (e.g. fossil fuels, renewable, etc.), and energy technology policies. The two separate reports will be released in Helsinki and Berlin and the presentations along with the full reports will be available soon. Learn more.

The fourth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM4) held in New Delhi, India last week marked the one year anniversary of the IRENA Renewable Energy Learning Partnership (IRELP). IRELP is dedicated to providing access to renewable energy training for professionals in all connected fields and their training portal provides that access to more than 1,500 training courses worldwide.
