EurObserv'ER, a collaboration of engineers and experts in renewable energy, recently announced the preliminary findings of the 2012 edition of its EurObserv'ER renewable energy barometer, which put the European Union on track to reach its goal of a 20% renewable energy share in gross final energy by 2020. East African Community Calls for Proposals to Develop Regional Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Centre »
The East African Community recently issued a call for proposals to set up the East Africa Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. Supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Program and the Austrian Development Agency, the center will be modeled on the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the west African region. The Clean Energy Ministerial announced that CEM4, the annual ministerial-level clean energy forum, will be 17-18 April 2013. Ministers from more than 20 participating countries will gather to discuss progress made by the Clean Energy Ministerial's 13 clean energy initiatives, explore ways to enhance collaboration between participating governments, and develop strategies to drive public-private engagement to support clean energy deployment. At the UN Climate Conference in Doha (COP 18), the Solutions Center and the ClimateWorks Foundation will co-host a clean energy policy best-practices side event. Clean energy policy information (country policy data, policy and incentives databases) and tools (interactive resource maps, no-cost virtual expert assistance) will be shared. ClimateWorks will highlight two reports from its “Policies that Work” series, which provides an analytical framework to help government leaders evaluate proposed policies in terms of their economic benefits and effectiveness in reducing GHG emissions. The Collaborative Labeling & Appliance Standards Program and the International Council on Clean Transportation) will showcase their work on appliance efficiency and transport, respectively. The Climate Finance Innovation Facility (CFIF), a programme of the Frankfurt School - UNEP Collaboration Centre, issued its third call for proposals to fund innovative financial product development activities in developing countries. CFIF aims to provide technical assistance and funding for the development of climate focused financial products and services in order to spur development in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
