In a context of high penetration of distributed energy resources, the smartening and digitalization of distribution grids enables unlocking the potential of distributed flexibilities. However, new business models are necessary to make this a reality. This webinar will explore some of these new business models, with a focus on four main agents: DSOs, aggregators, end users, and data service providers. The challenges and opportunities for these stakeholders are discussed, with an emphasis on perspective of the DSO as neutral market facilitator and distribution system optimizer.

Renewables Account for Almost Three-Quarters of New Capacity in 2019

The renewable energy sector added 176 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity globally in 2019, which is marginally lower than the (revised) 179 GW added in 2018. However, new renewable power accounted for 72 per cent of all power expansion last year, according to new data released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
