This report aims to provide best practice insights into the economic co-benefits of green city initiatives, how they are measured and the data and methodologies used. The authors attempt to provide a bridge between published estimates of economic benefits and estimates obtained directly from cities, and the use of such estimates by decision makers in specific settings. The economic benefits of sustainable city initiatives are presented for five sectors (the buildings sector, public and private transportation, energy efficiency and community scale development) in the form of case studies for eight cities: Bogotá, Copenhagen, Istanbul, London, Los Angeles, Portland, Stockholm and Sydney. Based on these city case studies, the authors offer policy reflections and recommendations.
