South Africa faced several load shedding events in 2014, and an energy shortage in the country is expected to induce repetitive load shedding for several years. This recent analysis takes a strategic and integrated approach to identifying geographical areas in which large-scale wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) development would be most appropriate, taking into consideration environmental, social and economic factors.
