The paper presents potential impacts on development (via energy access), greenhouse gas (GHG) emission mitigation, and climate resilience directly associated with DG, as well as specific actions that may enhance or increase the likelihood of climate and development benefits. This paper also seeks to provide practical and timely insights to support DG policymaking and planning within the context of common climate and development goals as the DG landscape rapidly evolves globally. Country-specific DG policy and program examples, as well as analytical tools that can inform efforts internationally, are also highlighted throughout the paper.
