This report assesses the potential for development of distributed generation of energy in Australia and reviews the associated economic, environmental, and socio-economic impacts of its deployment. Additionally, it provides recommendations on policy steps to fully realize Australia's distributed generation potential. Power system management software was used to assess distributed generation deployment across a spectrum of policy scenarios and its associated impacts, as well as speculation on its effect on transmission networks and paths towards integration into the grid.
