Policymaking for Microgrids: Economic and Regulatory Issues for Microgrid Implementation

This article discusses design and engineering considerations for microgrids, including building codes, power quality and reliability, regulatory environments, and economics. Projects from Europe, the United States, and Japan are presented to highlight barriers and successes in overcoming those barriers. Overall, microgrids are shown to increase efficiencies of current generation strategies.
