This report reviews the current unresolved debate in the United States over energy policy. An important part of that debate is over whether and how best to accelerate the development of renewable wind energy. In order to assess how the benefits could be distributed, this report takes a modern wind turbine and reduces it to its 20 separate component parts. The report first identifies 90 companies in 25 states already active in manufacturing these components and then identifies companies with the technical potential to enter the wind turbine market.
