This paper presents four definitions of capacity credit and uses an empirical study to compare them. The authors show that the choice of which definition is used can significantly impact the resultant capacity credit. Two of the four definitions were found to depend heavily on arbitrary parameter values, suggesting that either of the two alternative definitions (equivalent firm capacity or equivalent load carrying capacity) provide more accurate and consistent capacity values.
